Know about the Nagpur authentic food and popular places in Maharashtra

Nagpur is one of the busiest cities of Maharashtra though not as much busy as Mumbai. This place also has a very rich tradition and heritage along with a great tradition in culinary arts. It is said that the cuisines that are served here on a regular basis are mainly famous cuisines from a region called Vidarbha in India. That is why; the cuisines served here are also known as Varhadi or Saoji cuisine. This place is also very famous for the production of oranges. Being the winter capital of Maharashtra, Nagpur cuisines have a lot of rich spices in food and they love thick gravies.

The major dish served here is Pitla Bhakri. The people who live in village make this dish when they have their meal. This is thus a very famous dish of the rural Nagpur. The Pitla is basically lentils which are powdered and then they are battered to form a paste. It is mainly eaten with a piece of bread which is mainly made of Jowar. This s called Bhakri. This dish is very typical of Maharashtra and authentic as well.

Then there is Koshambhir. This is also a very famous dish of this region and it is mainly prepared when there is some celebration or some function. It is not a regular dish. There is a salad dish which is done with raw vegetables and fresh fruits which is again flavoured with spices and butter. To get food on train at Nagpur, one can order these popular dishes. There are some other popular dishes as well which one can try.

Tsunami Island: This Island got its name after the tsunami which took place in the year 2004 and this place is famous for its water sports. If you want to go deep in the sea, then scuba diving is your sport. Not only that, foodies can dig into Maharashtrian and Goan cuisines here which are deliciously finger licking.

Harihareshwar: This place is located in Raigad district and it is about four hours’ drive from Mumbai. This is a beautiful place which is surrounded by four mountains and they are named as Harihareshwar, Bramhadri, Harshinachal and Pushpadri. These four mountains actually represent four deities and they are Shiva, Brahma, Vishnu, and Parvati.
